Aerial views of land between Sebastopol and Pontnewydd. Compare the black and white extract from an aerial photo (© Gwent Record office) dating back to March 1948 with the colour one taken in the early 1990's (© Aerial Views, Newport, Gwent).
The view is taken from South to North from the edge of Pontnewydd with Five
Locks Road at the bottom running left to right. The Monmouth and Brecon Canal
is in the centre running North then veering to the North East. When we compare
the fields with old maps (to be published soon) as part of
our archeological survey, we find the area has not
changed much since medieval times.
